Dental surgery

Dental surgery procedures are performed at Dentopolis by experienced surgeons with years of practice: Dr Przemysław Leszczyński and Dr Hubert Pietrusza. We offer a full range of surgical procedures.

We make every effort to ensure that every patient feels comfortable and safe during their stay in our office. Before the procedure, the patient is thoroughly informed about the costs, course of the procedure and possible complications. Our surgeons perform procedures with the greatest gentleness, extractions are carried out in an atraumatic manner – to preserve as much bone and soft tissue as possible and to reduce postoperative ailments. In our clinic we also offer the use of healing accelerating material (PRF) from the patient’s blood.

All dental surgery procedures are performed under local anesthesia.

The most frequently performed treatments:

Tooth extraction (tooth removal)

Unfortunately, not all teeth can be saved with conservative or endodontic treatment. Tooth removal may also be necessary for orthodontic treatment. It is important that tooth extraction is performed by an experienced surgeon in order to preserve as much bone tissue as possible.

Atraumatic extraction leads to faster healing and the possibility of inserting an implant in the future.

In some cases, it is recommended to fill the socket at the extraction site with a bone substitute (bone augmentation)

At Dentopolis, we perform even the most complex tooth extraction procedures, and we also reconstruct lost bone tissue for future implantology and prosthetic treatments.

8 tooth extraction

Wisdom teeth erupt in about 65% of people, most often between the ages of 17 and 25. Most often, removal of the wisdom tooth is necessary for orthodontic reasons, but the indication may also be pericoronal inflammation or improper position of the wisdom tooth. Before the removal of the wisdom tooth, a surgical consultation is necessary, during the visit the dental surgeon analyzes a pantomographic image and/or computed tomograph (CT scan). Removal of the wisdom tooth should be performed by an experienced dental surgeon.

Due to the difficult position in the mouth and the proximity of the nerve, this is extremely important. The procedure of removing the wisdom tooth and removing the retained wisdom tooth is painless, performed under local anesthesia.

Convalescence after the procedure depends on the technique of the procedure, the complexity of the procedure and the individual characteristics of the patient.

Root apex resection

Root apex resection is a surgical procedure that involves cutting off the root apex and removing inflammatory changes within it. Resection is usually performed in the case of complications after root canal treatment.

  • The indication for root apex resection is:
  • Horizontal tooth root fracture
  • Extensive inflammations (not qualify for endodontic re-treatment)
  • In the case of a specific tooth structure, it is not possible to precisely clean or fill the treated canal (e.g. a very curved root or a calcified canal)

Pre-prosthetic surgery

Treatments consist in improving local conditions before making prosthetic restorations.

Pre-implantation surgery

There are few procedures that might be necessary for a successful implantation, including sinus lift using the open or closed method, bone regeneration with bone graft materials, clefting of the alveolar bone, plastic surgery of the lip and tongue frenulum, vestibular deepening. Doctor informs the patient during the consultation if any of those additional surgeries will be necessary.

Undercutting the frenulum

  • Tongue frenotomy

It is a surgical procedure performed when the frenulum is too short. A shortened frenulum leads to:

pronunciation problems

chewing problems

maintaining proper oral hygiene.

It is a procedure performed by a dental surgeon in newborns, children and adults. In the case of newborns, a too short frenulum results in problems with sucking food, and in the later period with problems with swallowing solid food, speech therapy problems (difficulties with correct pronunciation, lisp, malocclusion), abnormal the jaw and mandibular growth and laryngological problems (incorrect breathing)

The procedure itself takes about 5 minutes, is performed under local anesthesia and is completely painless.

  • Undercutting the frenulum of the upper lip

The frenulum of the upper lip runs between the inner surface of the lip and the surface of the alveolar process of the maxilla. Its incorrect structure can lead to: diastema (gap between the teeth more than 0.5 mm) gum recession (exposing the roots of the teeth). Difficulties in the pronunciation of some syllables. In many cases, part of the therapy is cutting the frenulum.

The procedure itself is short (as in the case of cutting the frenulum of the tongue) and is performed under local anesthesia.

In our office, we use a specialized coagulation knife, so there is no need to put stitches and healing is faster.

PRF (platelet rich fibrin)

The Dentopolis office is equipped with a centrifuge for platelet-rich plasma, which accelerates healing after tooth extraction procedures. Plasma is a concentrate of platelets, which, after taking blood from the patient and centrifugation, is administered to a specific place, stimulating the body’s natural regenerative processes. The use of platelet-rich plasma is one of the safest procedures, the preparation comes from the patient’s body, so it does not cause any allergies or side effects.
